About

Idea Consultant Melanie P. Moore is the Founder and former CEO of Badgerdog Literary Publishing, Inc., in Austin, Texas.  Under her leadership, Badgerdog won numerous awards for innovation, growth, and impact in Austin and nationally including being named in 2010 and 2011 to the Bulldog 100:  Fastest Growing Companies (owned or run by University of Georgia alumni).

Badgerdog is a nonprofit she formed after acquiring the defunct literary journal American Short Fiction (ASF) from the University of Texas Press in 2003.  In 2006 she and her team revived and relaunched ASF nationally.  Since then ASF has been recognized in the Pushcart Prize, Best American Short Stories, Best American Non-Required Reading, and other award-winning anthologies.

Meanwhile, she started Austin’s most robust and most popular writers in the schools program, Youth Voices in Ink, in 2004.  In 2008 Badgerdog expanded into other markets teaching online writing workshops to writers of all ages and conducting workshops serving senior citizens in Austin–a program known as Silver Voices in Ink.

Melanie was named A Glimmer of Hope Foundation’s Angel in the Community in 2010, and was a finalist in the Austin Under 40 Awards (a few years ago!).  She served as CEO from 2003 – 2011 and now serves on the Badgerodog Board of Directors.

Prior to founding Badgerdog, Melanie lead high-performing and cross-functional teams in large and small high-tech companies in Atlanta, Georgia, and Austin, Texas.  Her tenure includes work across all disciplines including Research and Development, Marketing, and Sales where she lead her company in revenue attainment.

Currently at work on a leadership transition book and a memoir, she consults innovators, artists, entrepreneurs, and business owners through Brainstorm to Done!, her private Idea Practice.
